I almost didn't post this for two reasons...I don't love the pictures ...and it looks burnt.
It wasn't burnt...but it looks it, right?
However, I'm tired of looking at Chorizo, Onions and Potatoes with a hazy boarder, so here we go...
And I know what you're thinking..."Good God
OK, fine...but it's hard to come up with witty, creative posts...day, after day, after day, after day.... I mean ...it's eXhausting.... ;)
So a Friday "filler" post for the sake of photographing food...in this case...my (and my children's) lunch...a Smoked Gouda, Ham and Apple Grilled Cheese...and no it wasn't burnt...just delicious.
To make this sandwich you'll need:
2 pieces of deliciouse bread
approx. 4 nice slices of smoked gouda
4-6 slices of country smoked ham (or your favorite ham)
1/4 of an apple, thinly sliced
2 T. butter
Heat 1T. butter of medium low heat. Add you bread to the pan and top with 2 slices of the cheese, the ham, the apples and then top with the additional cheese and 2nd piece of bread. After about 3-4 minutes, pick up the sandwich with a spatula and melt the remaining T. of butter. Flip the sandwich over to grill the other side. Check after about 3-4 minutes to make sure it's not over-browning. Flip again and cover with a large enough lid to ensure melting the cheese and warming the sandwich throughout (about 2 more minutes.)

Care, for my money that's not burned. It's all flavor. I think it is lovely.
I think it looks delicious! Cheesy and yummy! Thanks.
Doesn't look nearly as burnt as my toast - practically every morning I put it under the broiler (no counter space for a toaster!) and then forget about it and have to scrape of the burnt :(
Last week I made a smoked gouda and apple pizza. Next time I'll add ham! YUMMMMMM!
Dude. SO not burned-looking. Just delicious-looking. F'real.
Not at all ... it is 7:18 AM and I want to eat a Smoked Gouda, Ham & Apple Grilled Cheese!
I really didn't notice the the brown tops to the bread because the filling looked so scrumptious. Looks like a great sandwich to me.
Doesn't look burnt, looks delicious. Love the photos too... great pics.
The apple makes this a winner! We put apple on our cheese pizzas for the same affect! So tasty!
Burnt? No, it looks frickin' fabulous!! That darkness on the bread is flavor for sure! Can you come and make me lunch?? :)
I purposely burn my grilled cheese sandwiches, so even if this was burnt, I wouldn't mind at all...especially with ham and apple.
